What are you sticking with in today’s investment marketplace?

norm-al-170811

We’re sticking with gold God.  Here’s why…

First and foremost, gold might look pretty good down here, but God has so much of the stuff He paves heaven’s roads with it.

And don’t ever forget…no matter how much of it you manage to accumulate, you won’t be taking ANY of it with you when you leave Planet Earth.  The closest you’ll ever come is to take some of what you manage to collect, and send it on ahead.  [By donating it to God’s work here.  Jesus said, “Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.  …If you wish to be perfect, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”  (Matthew 6:21, 19:21)]  Not only does God keep track of what we give and where we give, He also keeps track of HOW we give.  “God loves a cheerful giver,” remember?

Don’t be a hoarder, be a helper.  God only asks us for ten percent, you know.  Most of us give more than that as a tip for good restaurant table service.

Once you get used to spreading your money around a bit, doing a little good here, a little good there, you’ll enjoy the feeling so much you’ll start trying to live on less and give more away. (It has happened to many others, we promise you.)

If you happen to be among those who are still skeptical about the whole “God thing” and not really convinced that God is really there, or that the Bible is really true, please let us pose one question to you: How do you explain all the prophecies in the Bible which have come true in centuries past?  (Never mind the prophecies which we will see coming true in years ahead.)

Here is how God explains those prophecies: “I am God, and there is no other.  I am God, and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.’  When I have spoken it, I will bring it to pass.  When I purpose it, I will also do it.  My salvation shall not delay.”  (from Isaiah ch. 46)

If God knows history in advance and can tell us in advance how something is going to turn out, which He has done many, many times in the Bible (and there is no other foundational book for any other religion which can demonstrate this), does this not give God the edge in being able to convince us He is real?  Jesus even said to one of His disciples, “If you have seen Me, you have seen the Father.”  (John 14:9)  In other words, “if you want to know what God is like, just get to know Me.”

THAT is an invitation you should accept!

On our own, we’ll never be good enough to get into heaven. So how do we get there?

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”              Matthew 11:28-30

NORM ‘n’ AL Note:  Never forget that Jesus was able to say “my burden is light” when He knew that Calvary awaited Him just a little further down the road.

Read your Bible every day. Pray. Don’t yell at the kids. Tithe 10 percent. No slang. No swag. No purple streaks in teens’ hair.

Do you ever feel suffocated by the things you need to do in order to be a “good person”?

The Pharisees loved to invent new rules and condemn people for not living up to their impossibly strict standards. In fact, they called their religion a yoke, which is a harness for restraining oxen and keeping them under control.

These holier-than-thou types bragged about their holiness, how many rules they followed, and how they made their yokes (and ours) even heavier.

 But then…

Then Jesus came and changed everything! He rescued those who had tried and failed to be “good people.” He said it was impossible to earn God’s love; instead, we should focus on faith and accepting God’s grace. God accepts us as we are. He’s not sitting in heaven with a checklist, shaking His head at us and waiting for us to get it together. He only wants us to avoid deliberate sinfulness and stay faithful to Him, obeying Him.  Remember, Jesus said “If you love Me, obey my commandments.”  His yoke is easy and light. When obeying Him comes from our love for Him and what He has done for us, following in His footsteps is almost effortless.

Today, don’t get depressed or overwhelmed by the things you should be doing. Think of what Jesus Christ has already done, and rest in His assurance by exercising your faith.

The eternal life that Jesus died to provide for us is going to be so spectacular and magnificent that while we are still in this life, we cannot even imagine what its eternal continuation is going to be like.

“Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”                 1 Corinthians 2:9

This is God speaking…”Truth has perished from among you.”

My people have forgotten Me days without number.

They have polluted the land with their wickedness, yet they refuse to be ashamed.  They have not known Me, therefore they have no understanding.  They are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.  How shall I pardon these people for this?  Shall I not avenge Myself on such a nation as this?

You have a defiant and rebellious heart; your sins have withheld good from you.  Do not pray for this people, nor lift up a cry or prayer for them, nor make intercession to Me; I will not hear.   You are a nation that does not obey the voice of the Lord your God, nor receive correction.  Truth has perished from among you.  This people proceeds from evil to evil, and they do not know Me, says the Lord.  They weary themselves to willfully commit perverse evil.

The winds of war are blowing on Israel’s borders

Winds of war surround Israel

On Sunday, an Israeli fighter jet entered Syrian airspace and reportedly bombed a vehicle traveling from Damascus to Quneitra, a town situated in the Golan Heights near the border with Israel. One person was killed.

According to Al-Mayadeen, a Lebanese news media service, the attack killed Yasser Hussein Asayeed, a member of a militia group allied with the Syrian government. Sunday’s air strike was the second military incursion into Syrian territory in three days and is evidence of the mounting tension between Israel and its northern neighbor.

On Friday, Israeli jets entered Syria and carried out an attack on a convoy transporting weapons to Hezbollah. During the attack, Syria launched surface-to-air rockets at the Israeli jets. Israel responded by firing its Arrow interceptor missile at the rockets.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, Israel’s Air Force struck two separate Hamas strongholds in the Gaza Strip. The strikes were in response to a Hamas rocket attack on Ashkelon earlier in the day. Another rocket attack from Gaza occurred on Thursday.

These attacks have many in Israel worried that war is imminent. “The winds of war are blowing on Israel’s borders,” wrote Alex Fishman earlier this week. He continued:

The Israeli strike in Syria, the Russian and Syrian responses, and the flare-up in Gaza are bringing Israel one step closer to a military collision. The relative calm along the borders in recent years, which has become a symbol of security stability and deterrence, is gradually wearing out.

The recent attacks are a sign of two important developments. First, as Fishman noted, Israel is establishing red lines with Russia, which in recent years has significantly improved its strategic position in the region.

The weekend events in the north indicate that Israel is striking in Syria not only to curb the Iranian arms convoys to Hezbollah, but also to demonstrate its presence in Syria and make it clear, especially to the Russians, that there will be no agreement in Syria without Israel’s input.

Second, some believe this level of aggression from Israel is a sure sign that it is concerned about the presence of Iran in Syria and Lebanon, and that Tehran via its proxies might even be close to launching an attack. There is evidence, as this article from the Jewish Press explained, that Iran’s strategic and military position in Syria and Lebanon has improved in recent weeks and months.

First, the Iran-sponsored Shia fighters in Syria, who 10 days ago announced the formation of a “Golan Liberation Brigade,” have done more than merely talk. Additional Iraqi Shia fighters have reportedly been deployed to Damascus (never a haunt of the Iran-sponsored force; they’ve been in Aleppo and Idlib Province) and have made public shows of military power there.

Meanwhile, in Lebanon, “Hezbollah has reportedly made a separate threat to begin raining ‘long-range missiles’ down on Israel from the Qalamoun Mountains north of Damascus.” There are also signs that cooperation is increasing between Hezbollah and the Lebanese Armed Forces. On February 12, Lebanese President Michael Aoun implied during a visit to Egypt that Lebanon needs Hezbollah and its weapons as a “complement” to Lebanon’s military. “The resistance’s [Hezbollah] arms are not contrary to the state project; otherwise we could have not tolerated it. It is an essential part of Lebanon’s defense,” he stated (emphasis added).

This statement would not have come as a surprise to Israel. Nevertheless, together with the other developments, it was a timely reminder that Lebanon, like Syria, is essentially a hostile state with little interest in protecting the Jewish state from Iran and its terrorist proxies.

It is impossible to know if Israel is about to go to war in Syria, Lebanon, or anywhere else. But in the larger sense, these events are troubling indicators of an approaching conflict of greater intensity.

Watch Jerusalem closely watches events in this part of the world because of the biblical prophecies describing how conflict here, especially in Jerusalem, will trigger a wider conflagration.

Amazing increase in major earthquakes worldwide over the last hundred years

Amazing increase in earthquakes...

Amazing increase in earthquakes, continued

In the Bible, Matthew 24:7 states: For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes in divers places.

There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven; this was written 2,000 years ago, by Luke the Evangelist who was quoting the warnings of Jesus Christ.

Famines, pestilence and fearful events are very much a part of our life these days and as for signs from heaven, last year we were blessed with blood Moons and Super Moons, sun and moon eclipses, fire balls, and comets, just to name a few.

But it’s the earthquakes statistics which are jaw-dropping.   This century, from January 1st in the year 2,000 until January 2017 a total of 2,697 major quakes have been recorded.

In the same period, January 1st 1900 to January 1917, only 97 major quakes were recorded; that is an incredible increase and indicates our planet is showing signs of birth pains because just as a woman in labor suffers contractions of increasing pain and intensity likewise our planet is also suffering with increasing quake pain and intensity.

Along with wars and rumors of wars which seem to be always present, it is safe to conclude we are most definitely  in the last days.

The UN vs. God: Disagreement over Israel and Jerusalem. Anybody want to guess who’s going to lose?

The UN General Assembly recently adopted six resolutions on the “situation in the Middle East and the question of of Palestine.”

From the UN website:  “The Assembly adopted a resolution on the peaceful settlement of the question of Palestine (document A/71/L.21) by a recorded vote of 153 in favour to 7 against (Canada, Federated States of Micronesia, Israel, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, United States), with 7 abstentions (Australia, Cameroon, Honduras, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Tonga, Vanuatu).  By the terms of the resolution, the Assembly called for the intensification of efforts by the parties, including through negotiations, with the support of the international community, towards the conclusion of a final peace settlement.”

In addition:  “The Assembly also adopted a resolution on Jerusalem (document A/71/L.22) by a recorded vote of 149 in favour to 7 against (Canada, Federated States of Micronesia, Israel, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, United States), with 8 abstentions (Australia, Cameroon, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Vanuatu).  By its terms, the Assembly reiterated its determination that any actions taken by Israel, the occupying Power, to impose its laws, jurisdiction and administration on the Holy City of Jerusalem were illegal and therefore null and void and had no validity whatsoever, and called upon Israel to immediately cease all such illegal and unilateral measures.  The Assembly also stressed that a comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the question of the City of Jerusalem should take into account the legitimate concerns of both the Palestinian and Israeli sides.

“By the terms of a resolution on the Syrian Golan (document A/71/L.8), the Assembly demanded that Israel withdraw from all the occupied territory to the line of 4 June 1967 and called on all parties concerned to exert the necessary efforts to ensure the resumption of the peace process.  That resolution received 103 in favour to 6 against (Canada, Federated States of Micronesia, Israel, Marshall Islands, Palau, United States), with 56 abstentions.”

We have used bold type in the three paragraphs above to help you understand the official position of the UN General Assembly.

On the matter of peace in the Middle East and particularly in Israel, the UN wants Israel divided geographically so that part of the land of Israel is given to the Palestinians. The UN thinks if only the Palestinians had their own land, their own country, just a place to call their own, everything would suddenly be wonderful in the Middle East.

The UN apparently has forgotten that not long ago (2005) Israel gave the land of Gaza, sometimes called the Gaza Strip, on Israel’s Mediterranean coast, to the Palestinians. Israel officially “disengaged” from the Gaza territory so that the Palestinians could occupy it, but the radical Islamic organization Hamas took over in 2007 following free elections.

The UN has apparently forgotten that Palestinians in general want to eradicate Israel from the map and from the earth. In the years since Palestinians took over Gaza, they have dug tunnels, smuggled missiles into Gaza, and they continually launch those missiles into Israel to kill as many Israelis as possible. This is not to mention, of course, all the direct attacks upon Israelis with knives, swords, guns, and any other weapon they can bring to hand.

On the matter of Jerusalem, the UN simply states that Israel is an “occupying power” and has no legal authority to be in or govern the “holy city.”  Period.

Just to show how open-minded it is on the question of Israel, the UN “demands” that Israel “withdraw from all occupied territory” so that Israel’s borders return to those it had prior to the 1967 Six-Day War.

The UN has conveniently forgotten quite a lot. God has forgotten nothing.

God said to Israel, “Every place on which the sole of your foot shall tread shall be yours; your border shall be from the wilderness [of Sinai] to Lebanon, and from the river Euphrates as far as the western sea [the Mediterranean].”  (See Deuteronomy 11:24 in the Bible.)

Israel does not “occupy” the land, Israel OWNS the land. It BELONGS to the Israelis in perpetuity, according to the Bible.

In addition, God has said repeatedly in the Bible that HE WILL DEFEND the land of Israel. In other words, God will protect the Jewish land against those who think they have a claim to it, or against those who simply want to occupy it without any legitimate claim.

Obviously the UN is siding with the Arabs today in the Middle East. When US politicians propose that Israel further divide its land to accommodate the Palestinians, they too are siding with the Arabs.

A little careful reading of the Bible will show that it is never advisable to choose a side which God opposes.

Are you intellectually honest?

Another way to ask that question: If something can be proven to be true through evidence and logic, would you admit it is true (even though you might have previously thought it was NOT true)?

Many people today and in the past have not believed the Bible because they thought it not true.

The Bible says of itself, “All Scripture is inspired by God.” (2 Timothy 3:16)  That statement leaves no room for error, no “wiggle room.”

Jesus made many statements in which He ascribed deity unto Himself. He wished to leave no doubt in the minds of His hearers as to what He meant and who He was. Here is one statement from John 14:9, in which Jesus is addressing Philip, one of His disciples: “Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how do you say, ‘Show us the Father?'”

In other words, Jesus was saying “If you want to get to know God, just get to know Me.”

For many people who investigate the Bible with intellectual honesty, prophecy is something that becomes a sign of Biblical truth that is truly inescapable. There are not just dozens, but hundreds of prophetic statements in the Bible which have been fulfilled. Many were fulfilled by Jesus Himself, but not because He was instrumental in creating the fulfillment. For example, in Micah 5:2 we are told that the Messiah will be born in the city of Bethlehem…and that is precisely where His birth took place. The death of the Messiah is prophesied in Scripture in such a way that the means of that death, crucifixion, cannot be mistaken for any other method of killing.

In our own modern time of today, we have seen a very important prophecy fulfilled: In 1948 Israel was re-established as an independent nation. There are at least ten prophecies which refer directly to the rebirth of Israel, but one in particular, by the prophet Isaiah, speaks of Israel being reborn “in one day.”  This accurately describes what happened on May 14, 1948 — when the Jews declared independence for Israel as a united and sovereign nation for the first time in 2900 years.  During that same day, the United States issued a statement recognizing Israel’s sovereignty. And, only hours beforehand, a United Nations mandate expired, ending British control of the land. During a 24-hour span of time, foreign control of the land of Israel had formally ceased, Israel had declared its independence, and its independence was acknowledged by other nations. Modern Israel was literally born in a single day.

The point here is this: For any prophecy to be fulfilled, the source of that prophecy has to know something in advance…in the case of Bible prophecy, sometimes thousands of years in advance. Only God can know things thousands of years in advance.

Therefore, the only option we are left with is that God is real, the Bible is true and accurate, and Jesus the Messiah is now alive and awaiting His appointed time to return to this earth as the Bible says He will.

We hope you are intellectually honest enough to accept the truth of these statements.
