America’s national security and the disastrous Afghanistan evacuation

What Joe Biden did to our national security has yet to be fully determined…but we all watched as he gave control of Afghanistan, and control over many American lives, to the Taliban. America’s longest war ended in a stunning surrender.

Seeing the complete weakness of the Biden administration, the Taliban dictated terms to the US and demanded all American forces leave the country by the end of August. Biden and Blinken and Sullivan and other senior administration officials tried to spin one of the worst geopolitical humiliations in US history as the rest of the world saw reports of rapes and murders occurring where the Taliban assured us we would see “moderation” in their takeover.

Taliban leaders, recognizing the chaos which engulfed Kabul, offered to let the US military take control of the city to evacuate Americans and other green card holders. Biden, however, refused to change his plans and thereby restricted any American presence to the Kabul airport, and the entire world watched the calamity which followed.

Here are seven takeaways from the Afghanistan disaster as we try to move beyond the crisis.

ONE. The terrorist threat is back in a big way. Twenty years after 9/11, not only do the Taliban control Afghanistan again, but Al Qaeda still exists and ISIS is showing resurgence. Under Donald Trump’s leadership the US military destroyed the ISIS caliphate in Iraq and Syria and killed many high-profile terrorist leaders. When Biden took office we had not heard a threat from ISIS for years, and a relatively small US contingent in Afghanistan had held the Taliban at bay for more than 18 months without a single American military death. Biden’s chaotic retreat and evacuation have reversed that progress while also threatening Trump’s Abraham Accords. And we evacuated without $85 billion worth of military equipment and hardware which we simply left for ISIS and the Taliban to pick up and use against us.

TWO. The failure of US leadership has emboldened all of our adversaries. North Korea restarted one of its nuclear reactors. Iran is seeking new ways to assert itself all over the Middle East. China is moving into Afghanistan to fill the vacuum the USA left behind, and is threatening Taiwan in ways they never would have tried when we had an active military presence in the area. China rushed to call our “Afghan abandonment” a “lesson for Taiwan” and told the world it was not just a military failure but a failure of the entire American governmental system and way of life. The message is pretty clear: Biden’s huge failure in Afghanistan has reinvigorated our enemies and invited them to challenge us in ways unimaginable up to now.

THREE. Biden’s “national security team” is so dysfunctional it might as well be non-existent. As Kabul was being overrun by the Taliban, Biden was locked away at Camp David and afraid to address the nation. When he finally did, he found blame in everyone but himself. Repeatedly he refused to take questions from reporters, and his lack of leadership caused public statements from his administration to be contradictory, confusing, and conflicting. All this from a man who ran for office by saying it was time to put “adults” back in charge of our government.

FOUR. The US military has been gravely weakened by an administration which puts “wokeness” ahead of winning wars. Immediately after Biden’s inauguration, his new defense secretary, Lloyd Austin, said that climate change would now be a priority in national security. General Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told Congress he wanted to understand “white rage.” The admiral who was Chief of Naval Operations recommended a book for the Navy which teaches that America is an irredeemably corrupt, evil, and racist nation. Is it any wonder the USA doesn’t know how to win wars today?

FIVE. Biden’s administration is a disaster for our allies around the world. America’s relationships with its allies are at a low point. Biden abandoned Afghanistan in the middle of the night with no coordination among our NATO partners, putting countless lives at risk. Biden did not return calls from Britain’s PM for days on end, and the British Parliament finally voted to hold America’s president “in contempt.”

SIX. Our liberal elitists are more focused on attacking Trump supporters than defeating our enemies. Biden’s Department of Homeland Security issued a bulletin right before the Afghan catastrophe telling us that vaccine skeptics and citizens concerned about election integrity were domestic terrorists. Democrats, instead of paying attention to America’s defense needs, stayed busy trying to build the events of January 6th into a way to shame the 74-plus million Americans who voted for Trump. Democrats managed to express mild outrage at Biden’s missteps only when it was far too late to offer any guidance.

SEVEN. Despite Biden’s failed presidency, America remains strong. Biden’s poll numbers today are absolutely dismal, to the point where both Dems and the media have been criticizing him. He has shown not just woeful incompetence, but a complete lack of leadership. Thanks to Donald Trump, we still have a strong military fighting force, but it too needs good leadership. The best thing American voters can do is plan for a transition in 2022 and 2024 to good leadership, and then support it.

“The world is awash in billions of impoverished humans, all of whom would love to know that our southern border is wide open”

The Biden administration is actively encouraging an unprecedented surge in illegal migration over our southwestern border. Here are the facts. First, we are a nation of roughly 330 million citizens trying to deal with an illegal monthly inflow of more than 100,000 illegal aliens. Second, that inflow is rapidly rising while deterrence, assimilation, strategic planning, health, policing, housing, and the quality of our educational systems are all in free-fall.

In addition, costs of this free-fall to our society are alarmingly rising, as are risks to American citizens and illegal aliens alike, because both populations face challenges they are not remotely prepared to deal with. In other words, we are in a crisis situation.

The policies creating this crisis could not be more clear. Biden’s suspension of the Trump agreement with Mexico to hold applicants pending asylum, therefore resurrecting the so-called “catch and release” policy, is resulting in mass illegal resettlement in the US. That was the first mistake. The second was promising to absorb unaccompanied minors, pushing them into the US heartland through churches, civic groups, attenuated relatives, and sometimes just ill-advised and unplanned bus drops. The effect of the Biden policies could also not be more clear: They are encouraging an explosion of illegal incoming border traffic. Human traffickers (smugglers) are working overtime to collect payments for their work from people who are suffering and dying in numbers heretofore unseen.

US Customs and Border Patrol encountered 172,000 migrants in March 2021. That number, believe it or not, was a 71% jump over the preceding month. Approximately 20,000 of the March figure were minors.

These minors, who are usually not accompanied by any parents or relatives, must fend for themselves as they overwhelm housing and health services. They come here with no records and no means of support. They are not entering through normal ports of entry, but through very large holes in our border. (If YOU were trying to enter a country illegally, how would YOU do it, by going to the manned border patrol post, or going across the border where there is nobody and nothing preventing your entry? C’mon…these folks are not stupid, they’re just desperate. And many of them are injured or ill with COVID.)

Who should Americans hold responsible for this tragedy? This massive failure is entirely the work of the Biden presidency and complicit Senate and House Democrats. Incoming illegal aliens are being met with an illegal immigration policy. Biden and Harris and the Dems have no clue how to deal with the huge problem they have created…and they do not seem to be very troubled by it. They are doing their best to ignore it, in fact. Harris was put in charge of it, and she has yet to even visit the border to see first-hand the scope of the tragedy. So she just ignores the tragedy, telling Americans and the rest of the world she’s waiting for Biden to come to his senses and appoint someone else.

But waiting for Biden to come to his senses is a futile mission indeed, because it’s obvious to everyone that he has few of them left.

This “train wreck” on our border can be successfully dealt with when enough Americans decide to stop it. We must become vocal. Letters and phone calls to anyone and everyone in government. Send a letter to Biden and Harris and then send copies of your letter to your local press. Send copies to your senators and representatives. Accountability rests with those who decided to run for office. The job they wanted comes with not just perks and a high salary, but also with responsibility. If you have to send your letter to these people twice a month or even every week, then do it! Send copies to online news outlets, too. Let the world know that you are disgusted with do-nothing government bureaucrats who created the largest border tragedy this country has ever seen and don’t care enough to try to fix it!

“Near birth” abortion now legal in ten states, but it is inhuman, abhorrent, and immoral in every state

“All children, born and unborn, have a God-given right to life.” (President Donald Trump)

Every day, our ears are filled with noise — TV, radio, people around us, the traffic we are navigating through. What we never hear every day are the cries of babies who are being put through the trauma of abortion.

Ten states in the US have now legalized abortion right up until the moment of birth. “Near birth” abortion. (That sounds much more polite, doesn’t it?) If we, the enlightened population of the USA, will tolerate this inhuman and completely immoral option in our society, what will we NOT tolerate? Abortion has been described as one dead, one wounded — and that has never been more true than “near birth” abortion makes it.

Donald Trump, father of five children, has been unexpectedly educational on this issue, trying to awaken consciences, hearten those who doubt, affirm those who care, and reorient our laws. In August, he declared “All children, born and unborn, have a God-given right to life.” In September, he upped the ante. He promised to “protect unborn life through every means available,” “defend the freedoms of religious believers,” and “continue nominating constitutionalist Supreme Court and lower court judges” who would do both.

If for only one day we all could hear the cries of the babies who are going through the trauma of abortion, we too would want to “protect unborn life.” We would no longer find it so easy to simply dismiss this ghastly procedure which occurs thousands of times every day in “the land of the free and the home of the brave.”

Taking life is easy, and it is getting easier all the time. It is probably easiest of all in Chicago, where the rate of citizens murdering other citizens seems to increase to unbelievable numbers. In the first six months of 2020, in Chicago Illinois USA, 440 people lost their lives to this inhuman violence. Just in Chicago. With wanton murder as with abortion, is our black citizens who suffer the most useless deaths.

Here is the reality: In abortion, that little human is a person. That little human is just like you, and just like you were when you were a little human. And had it not been for the love and conviction of others, you would not be alive today.

Who made us? A loving God or some clever bio-engineer? The miracle of life is just that. It is a miracle. Who are we to put an end to a miracle? The loss of human life is a profound loss, and when it is lost it is gone forever. We can never create life, we can only take life. Many of us can take life far too easily. Creating life is not the same as creating a baby. All the means for your life to continue through the birth of a new human being were in place before you were born. God created life. All we can do is make life continue through a new birth. Make sure you understand that difference.

Here are the facts: In the year 2018, Americans killed 876,000 healthy babies through abortion. Since a splintered Supreme Court decision in 1973 inserted a “right to end life” into the law of the land, Americans have killed 61,628,584 human babies. Sixty-one million, six hundred twenty-eight thousand, five hundred eighty-four American human lives that never had a chance to grow and thrive and contribute something to our society. Abortion takes more lives in America than cancer and heart disease. Abortion accounts for 61.1 percent of all African American deaths in the USA, and abortion claims 32.1 percent of total deaths in America.

You can count it a blessing that you have not heard the cries and screams of all those babies we have killed. You can be sure that God has heard every one.

Holiday season will not be so merry this year, according to poll results…

“According to the polls, Christmas this year will not be as merry as it should be for most Americans,” according to conservative activist Dan Weber.

He attributes the “ nation’s malaise ” to what he called the “shoddy and deceitful way” the people are being treated by big government and referenced the spate of scandals that have rocked the White House in recent months.

Weber, who is president of the Association of Mature American Citizens, cited a statement by Wal-Mart just a few days ago “suggesting that Obamacare may be a principal reason why Christmas shoppers have shorter lists this year.  This week, too, Gallup published one study that indicated 63% of us are disenchanted with the realities of Obamacare and another that showed 80% of Americans are none too happy with the state of the Union in general.”

Yes, Virginia, there is a real grinch...

Chris Christopher, director of consumer economics at the IHS Global Insight consulting firm, believes it is not just Obamacare that has put a damper on the holidays this year.  He said that it is an overall loss of confidence that is to blame, perhaps exacerbated by the prospects of higher health care costs next year due to Affordable Care Act.

“Add to that the general suspicion that the president may have been telling us outright lies about Obamacare and its benefits all along and you’ve got the makings of a not so jolly Christmas,” Weber commented.

He added that “it is not so surprising that a nation that treasures its independent spirit, its heritage and its values balks at the prospect of bureaucrats telling us how to live.  We’re being led down the road to a promised land that doesn’t exist—a Utopian Socialist State in which it is the government that decides what’s right and wrong.  We’re a country founded on conservative principles, not liberal ideologies.   We are a people that want to think for ourselves and who want to choose for ourselves and with a little help from God and the voters we can begin to change things in Washington come November 2014.”
